Jefferson-Lewis-Oswego Roundtable Set For Phoenix

PHOENIX - As the grass turns green and warmer temperatures fill the air, it means it’s time to mark those calendars for the upcoming spring Regional Roundtable.

Regional Roundtables are sponsored by the Northern New York Library Network (NNYLN) based out of Potsdam, in conjunction with the Documentary Heritage Program.

The Jefferson-Lewis-Oswego Spring Regional Roundtable will be held Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Phoenix Public Library, Century Room. The topic of discussion will be "Planning Projects for Archives Month - A Primer" and will run from 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The facilitator for the day will be Lisa Becker, Executive Director of Lewis County Historical Society and Lewis County Historian; and Barbara Dix, historian for the Village of Phoenix and the Town of Schroeppel.

This hands-on event will take a look behind closed doors. What do repositories have in their collections? How to: develop a project for public view, advertise, work with the media, find venues to display, work with schools, showcase local treasures, and share with the community. Participants may wish to continue their discussion "Dutch treat" over lunch.

There is no fee to attend the Roundtable, but advance registration through the NNYLN is required. To sign-up, contact the Network at 315-265-1119, or sign-up online at www.nnyln.org and click on "Classes & Facilities." For more information on the event, contact Ms. Becker at 315-376-8957.
