NorthNet Library Staff Account Registration
NorthNet is the regional Internet gateway provided by the NorthNet Internet Services, Inc.
NorthNet passwords are available at no charge to all libraries and library staff members in
Clinton, Essex, Franklin, St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Lewis, and Oswego counties. Internet
services available to NorthNet users include ftp, gopher, telnet, Internet electronic mail,
network news, and the World Wide Web. NorthNet offers dial in access using a standard
telephone line. Please note that there will be a charge to your library for any long
distance telephone calls.
For those who already have Internet access, NorthNet can be reached via telnet (telnet to "northnet.org").
The NNYLN's HOBO electronic mail service will continue to provide toll free
interlibrary loan traffic. Each HOBO library should continue using its institutional HOBO account for interlibrary loan.
NorthNet users who wish to either dial in or telnet in to use NorthNet will need a NorthNet password. Passwords are issued at no charge to individual library staff members so that electronic mail, listserv subscriptions, and other services may be individually customized.
